Alpena County Library Screening of the movie "Suffragette". Join the LWV and the Library to celebrate Women's History Month. You are invited to view the movie "Suffragette." Mary Ann Crawford will lead the discussion and give some background. The movie is a powerful drama about the women who fought for equality in early 20th Century Britain.

Gerrymandering/redistricting, a call for reform, will be the topic at the November 16 public town hall sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Alpena County and Alpena Lifelong Learners (ALL). Donna Hornberger, Michigan LWV board member, will present information on redistricting. The public is encouraged to attend this important presentation. There is no charge.

Redistricting is an important current issue because of recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions. Gerrymandering/redistricting changes are urged by some in Michigan, where district voting lines are drawn by whichever party is in power. For more information, go to
